Our Family

History

DLM Ranch’s history began with a family member, known to us as “Grandma Pat,” being one of the first woman jockeys. Her son, Mike Butler, and his wife, Rita Butler, are the two owners of DLM Ranch. Mike Butler grew up around horses and Rita grew up around horses and longhorns. After growing up with animals their whole lives, they decided to do the same for their children. Mike and Rita Butler raised their kids around cows, horses, goats, pigs, bunnies, cats, and plenty of dogs. The first herd of purebred Angus were purchased in 2017 and they were the start of the cattle industry for the Butlers. The Butlers’ first horse was purchased 18 years ago and many have been raised since. The Butler family lived in the mountains of Colorado their whole lives until they moved to Mannford, Oklahoma in 2022. The Butlers have begun a registered Charolais herd and bought more registered purebred Angus, they also purchased a herd of commercial cows with the DLM Ranch property. Registered Idaho Pasture Pigs and Nigerian Dwarf Goats are two of the most recent additions to the property. DLM Ranch now has cows, horses, chickens, goats, ducks, geese, pigs, cats, dogs, and lots of wildlife! The Butlers’ love for animals is apparent in the constant additions to the family.  DLM Ranch looks forward to a continuous growth in the agricultural world as well as tackling the new adventures Oklahoma brings it!
